Thank you both so much for your quiet, unhurried professionalism in respect of the handling of the transaction. I know that our vendor was a very reasonable English man which helped, but this does not detract from all encompassing service that you gave.

Buying houses in England is a mostly stressful business. Buying in another country where the laws and customs are different and they do not even speak the same language ought to be harder, and more stressful. In fact though, the whole process seemed effortless, from our point of view.

Everything that you said would happen – happened. The quality of information was faultless.

The after sales care is worth mentioning, thanks to you we now have standing orders in place to pay for all the utilities and by your recommendation someone else is close by to assist with those little problems that crop up.

One hears of horror stories (in the UK media) about buying in Spain (and other places), all that I can say is these individuals are obviously not dealing with the right people.

Dear Mike and Margaret,

This is just a note to confirm we spent a pleasant, if cold Saturday and Sunday in our Pargo 15 home and are very pleased with our purchase. Obviously some improvements can be effected over the coming months to make the house more up to date and we will enjoy planning what is required.

Jenny and I want to thank you both very much for the handling of the whole transaction from viewing through contract to our grand completion meeting on Friday past. The advance planning required to achieve completion on Friday was noticed and much appreciated - the early start was definitely necessary. The fact the the notary was unavailable through snow problems only added to the whole memorable event.

It was particularly pleasing to have such friendly vendors to work with. If you are in touch with the Krolls you can pass on our good wishes.

We return on 14th February with Jenny's parents and our boys. Jenny's parents will stay for 3 weeks but we will return on the Monday evening 17th. That should be an opportunity to firm up the gardener arrangements and sort out satellite signals, computer telephone lines and so on.

The main purpose of this message is however to thank you for the friendly interested and professional way everything was attended to on Friday by Margaret and for Mikes help in introducing us to Mike Parker and his hospitality over tapas, and for the pool viewing on Saturday. We very much appreciate all that you both did to help our purchase experience go so smoothly.

Eight years ago I wrote and thanked you for all your hard work and care in helping us buy the house, now I'm writing to thank you for the even harder work and care in selling the house. Margaret, it is so impressive how you manage all the little setbacks and keep officialdom happy. I believe if you were doing estate agency work in England you would be a very wealthy person by now. They certainly do not work as hard as you do and on the whole I would say they have very little interest in the individual client, whether vendor or purchaser.

Claudia, you were obviously a great find, very efficient and yet cool and calm. I do hope you continue to enjoy your work. If you ever want to visit England and don't have anywhere to stay, you and your husband are welcome at our house, walking distance to the station and only 25 minutes from Waterloo by train.

Mike, many thanks to you for your hard work and giving us such good advice on how we should react. I hope we get to see you and Margaret again some time in the future, perhaps during one of your visits to London.

The weather is quite incredible in England. Friday morning sitting on the plane in Granada we were informed that Gatwick was closed because of storms, and then when we eventually did get to Gatwick, the trains were cancelled and we had to be taken by bus to Guildford. This is the first (and now the last) time we have used public transport to get to Gatwick and we only did that because of security problems. We are lucky as we live on a hill so should be able to keep our heads above water and we haven't had much rain anyway, but just in case, Jack has the inflatable blown up in the garden. He says he has to check it ready for our holiday!!
