Salobrena Estate Agents on the Costa Tropical
Mike and Margaret Lingwood began Salobrena Villas, also known as Inmobiliaria Lingwood (in Spanish estate agents are known as "inmobiliarias"), one of the oldest estate agents in Salobrena, after arriving in Spain over twenty years ago. During this time it has become one of the leading Costa Tropical estate agents.
On the Costa Tropical there have been many changes during this time including most recently the opening of two new motorway extensions providing excellent airport access and also during this time many Costa Tropical estate agent offices have come and gone. Between 2001 and 2007 there were many new estate agents trying to establsh themselves along the coast and at one time Almunecar (includiing La Herradura) reportedly had well over 100 (not counting unofficial agencies - where people had a website but no trading premises).
Since early 2008 the number of estate agencies in Almunecar and the rest of the Costa Tropical has declined dramatically with many disappearing as quickly as they first appeared.
In Salobrena estate agents were never as prevalent as in Almunecar but the growing popularity of this small seaside town also attracted a number of foreigners who set up businesses selling properties and trying to earn a living from the apartments and townhouses found in the heart of Salobrena, something that we decided some years ago not to be involved with. Salobrena has five distinct property markets (or proprty types) and at Salobrena Villas we specialise in just one. Again since the collapse of the main-stream property market in Spain many if not all of these new estate agents in Salobrena have disappeared.
Travelling east beyond Salobrena estate agents are not as common. There are various seaside communities such as Calahonda and Castell del Ferro but for various reasons they have never attracted the attention of the international house buying market and there was never a large number of estate agents in that area of the Costa Tropical.
We believe that Salobrena is the best of the locations along the Costa Tropical and although we are regularly offered properties in other areas we believe that by specialising here where we live and know the houses and owners we can provide a better more inclusive service to vendors and purchasers alike.
At the same time we understand that not everyone wants the same thing and in addition many clients want to explore other areas of the Costa Tropical and even beyond to ensure they have found the right location before deciding where to buy.
